UNCHARTED
This collection of abstract expressionistic paintings is my appreciation of our ecosystem. Inspired by the ever-changing coastal inlets, coral reefs and glaciers that shape our landscape and have a direct impact on our climate and wildlife.
The fluid lines reflect the pulse of the natural world, the change of seasons, time, tides and weather. As these change their effects flow and shape our landscape revealing and concealing what lies within.
At the start of these works the blank canvas offered me a voyage into the unknown, each painting a journey with no fixed destination. This challenge and working with a new medium, alcohol inks, I often found myself in a state of controlled chaos. No matter how much practice and control I employed there was always an element of unpredictability. A reminder of how fragile the world we live in is.
